Exploring Indian Civilization
With
Michel Danino
Well known historian and scholar Michel Danino’s lecture series on “Exploring Indian Civilisation” is now available on Youtube.
The series consisting of 16 lectures begins with Danino speaking on the Indus-Saraswathi civilisation. He then goes on to dwell on the Aryan controversy. He spends an entire lecture explaining the recent findings on what he calls ‘the Ganga-Vindhya civilisation’. The series is not a mere chronological narration of Indian history – Danino shifts gears and deals with themes like India’s interface with the East and the West.
Later lectures are on topics such as Indian ecological traditions, water management and science in ancient India. The series ends with two lectures – one on the colonial impact on Indian society and economy, and what India could learn from its history
