70th DAY OF RHS AT JANTAR MANTAR FOR OROP Relay Hunger Strike
Today, on the 70th day of the agitation, 25 Ex-servicemen sat on Relay Hunger Strike at Jantar Mantar. Ex-servicemen from fourteen states participated in Relay Hunger Strike(RHS).
M/S Mrinalini Katoch D/O Gen VK Singh observed Relay Hunger Strike (RHS). Student leader Mr Ankit Gupta president Citizen for Forces (C4F) also sat on RHS.
Indefinite Fast
Col Pushpender Singh(Grenadiers) and Havaldar Major Singh (Sikh Light Infantry) entered eighth day of fast unto death while Hav Ashok Kumar Chauhan(Signals) entered the sixth day of fast unto death. Their medical examination was done by a panel of doctors and all the medical parameters were found to be stable. However, Col Puspender and Hav Major Singh are feeling weakness which is normal for a person who has not eaten anything for eight days. Necessary medical arrangements have been made to cater for any emergency.
Media Centre
Media centre has been established at Jantar Mantar. Media centre will give authorized and approved information. The management is not responsible for authenticity of any information collected from unauthorized person. Press release will be issued by media centre every day at 1800 hrs.
Events of the day
Ex-servicemen in various groups (regiments/courses) as well as individuals including NRIs are visiting Jantar Mantar to boost morale and express total solidarity in support for restoration of rightful status of armed forces personnel and grant of One Rank One Pension (OROP) as approved by two houses of the parliament, the biggest temple of the biggest democracy of the World.
SS 2, 75 NDA/85 Regular, SS 31, 14 AEC, 46 NDA/55 regular courses came to the agitation venue to not only express solidarity but also make financial contributions. Some individuals made contributions of even one lakh. Number of officers of the rank of Col to Lt General continued to participate in the proceedings in greater numbers.
M/s Mrinalini Katoch w/o Col Sangram Singh Katoch and D/O Gen VK Singh joined Relay Hunger Strike to boost of the morale of agitating Ex Servicemen.
She addressed the gathering and demanded that OROP is our genuine demand and must be met at the earliest. Sep Ram Kishan 93 year old veteran of second world war of armd corps visited JM to boost the morale of agitating ESM. Sep Ram Bharose Yadav 85 years old of 72 medium artillery. He visited despite being blind.
A group of officers from Som Vihar R.K Puram visited Jantar Mantar and contributed large sum for the agitation. Notable fact is that most of the officers were above 75 years and included Mrs Savita Rai Singh W/O Brig Rai Singh(90 Year old) MVC. Mrs Pavitra Singh D/O Col DV Singh also visited JM. Col DV Singh and Mrs DV Singh could not visit JM because they were invalidated in an accident three years ago.
Twenty Five officers and their families came from Jaipur to add strength to the agitation.
otor Cycle Rally: Around 100 YOUTH on their motorcycles displaying the banners in support of One Rank One pension started from three different locations of Delhi and driving through various other places in Delhi reached Jantar Mantar as the last venue to lend their support for candle light march by physical presence also. They were extremely enthusiastic to spread the message of our agitation.
Candle Light March
United front of Ex Servicemen (UFESM) had organized a candle light march at JM. More than 4000 ESM, families, youth and civil supporters assembled and participated, in the same.. The candle light march was planned to celebrate India’s victory over Pakistan. It was also an effort to pay homage to our former colleagues who were martyrd in this conflict. The United Front of Ex Servicemen (UFESM) has decided to celebrate this function independently as Sainik parliament at JM had passed the resolution to boycott all govt/military functions till implementation of OROP. Besides lighting of candles at Amar Jawan Jyoti, flowers were also placed around the perimeter as well as bouquets by General's Balbir Singh & Satbir Singh. Significantly it has been reported that ESM are decling invitations to attend the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Indo-Pak War. Wg Cdr Vinod Neb, VrC ** is one of them.

The breakfast at Jantar Mantar on 23rd Aug 2015 was sponsored by officers from all arms and services co-ordinated by Col Sudhir Garg and Major Sohan Singh Bagga. And Lunch was sponsored by Col Attar Singh (Gurgaon).

1.A motorized rally by ESM through the entire Dehra dun city was organized by ESM ON 22 Aug was conducted. It was well received by members of civil society,
2. ESM in Udham Singhn Nagar took part in a protest march on 22 Aug.
3There was a Black Flag day observed by ESM at Mohali on 22 Aug
4.The silver jubilee celebrations of 'VEKARE' AN AFFILIATE esm ORGANIZATION OF ufesm were held in Mysore. The members renewed their pledge towards the acheiving of OROP and stood in solidarity with those spearheading the cause from Jantar Mantar.
5. A Kisan rally alongwith ESM organizations that are affiliated to UFESM was held at Satara on 23 Aug. .
Shri Anna Hazareji was the guest of honour. More than 10,000 people are reported to have attended the rally where most speakers urged the government of the day to bring the OROP issue to an early closure.
