WHO NEEDS ENEMIES?

The Editor All News Papers and News Channels.
Dear Sir,

                                  WHO NEEDS ENEMIES?

Dear Hon Shri Raksha Mantri,

You have again put your foot in  mouth. My guess is that you already had one inside and now both feet are in. Maybe you are practicing for the coming International Yoga Day, but your asana has put some delicate parts of your body in a vulnerable position.

You say that the army has become less important and that’s because there have been no wars. So let’s educate you a bit.

From the year you were born the army has grown 300%. You may not have a declared war but we soldiers have an undeclared war – more dangerous and tricky than a declared one all along our land frontier. In fact eight states are virtually being run by the army – the seven in the north east and J&K. Pull out Army for one day from these states and you will see them vanish from Indian  Map. If you think Army has lost relevance try in one state.

Do you have the confidence to repeal AFSPA and send the army back to the barracks? Mr Parrikar, you don’t maintain an army to wage war. You have it to ensure that others will think twice before they get any ideas. You have not learnt the ABC of Defence. But you are in good company – the others before you, particularly the immediate predecessor, were no better.
No wonder the babus sitting in AC environ  can twirl you round their fingers and notes.

Recall what our first Field Marshal said – we have ministers who can’t distinguish a gorilla and a guerilla, a gun and a howitzer and a foxhole from other types of holes.

By the way every mammal has got one.

It is good that you do not meet your Chinese counterpart on a one to one basis. He will eat you raw with chilli and soya sauce. And with a minister like you, does the armed forces  need enemies?

My suggestion – go back to Goa.
