A Massive "LALKAR" rally was conducted on the outskirts of Pathankot today.

The rally was organised by IESM under the banners of UFESM (JM) supported by IESL SSP, AIEWA, SEWA PUNJAB among over 200 organisations across the country.

Over 7000 ESM from J&k, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi NCR, & PUNJAB along with their families, VIR NARIS, & widows braving age, ailment, disability and increment weather attended the rally.

A number of speakers from across regions, ranks, and service put across their points of view to the assembled audience.

Gp Capt VK Gandhi VSM, Gen Secy IESM, and Hony Lt Kameshwar Pandey also addressed the gathering.

In his key note address Chairman IESM, and Advisor UFESM, Maj Gen Satbir Singh, SM, gave out the current status of the burning issue of OROP. He stated that while all efforts are being made to ensure implementation of OROP as per the approved definition by amicable communication both verbal and in writing, other hard options as also the legal route is being prepared. He specified that the present notification was harm full to all ranks but particularly to VIR NARIS, OR, & JCO's. He emphasised the need for Unity and maintainence of aim by all ranks irrespective of their personal views or affliations . He assured the gathering that acceptance of the GOi notification in its present form as a factor of trust and honour between the erstwhile commanders and the rank and file was not acceptable. He outlined the road map ahead. His address was recieved with thunderous applause and slogans of "Sainik Ekta Zindabad ".

Earlier, Gen Satbir Singh, Gp Capt VK Gandhi & Hony Lt Kameshwar Pandey were recieved at Amritsar airport by the Amritsar unit of IESM and officials of PMME. They were then driven in a cavalcade preceeded by over 100 m/c outriders to the rally site. En route they were accorded brief civic receptions at Dhaliwal & Gurdaspur.

At the rally, the VIR NARIS of the recent Pathankot Air Base attack belonging to near by areas were felicitated and personal condolences offered for their loss. Also parents of past posthumous PVC and Ashok Chakra winners, viz, Capt GS Salaria, Capt Arun Jasrotia, & Lt Triveni Singh were felicitated. Mementoes were given to the veterans who had toiled hard to make the rally a success.

The rally was organised by Lt Col Salaria of IESM Pathankot and his team and assisted by Col Dharam Singh from Gurdaspur, Maj GS Virk from Amritsar and Col Balbir Singh from Jullundur. The social media team led by Maj P Chowdhury on site with vishesh Joshi and Lt Col Sukhwant Singh, Col Rohit Kumar, Ms Richa Singh, Ms Jhanvi Pant Ms Devi Menon and a number of unnamed cyber warriors kept the UFESM Digital flag flying and won the day on this front. Local msm was present courtesy the organizers.

It was announced that the next rally would be held on 21Feb at Patiala. Varansi and other cities would follow.

UFESM (JM) Thanks all its associate organizations for a successful conduct of the "LALKAR" RALLY today. It is with this Unity and significance of purpose that our voice will be heard and justice delivered.
